其实，采取排除法即可否掉A选项。如果用at the moment，就是介词短语作状语，那么问题就来了：moment和其后的the thief attempted to rush out of the store有何关系呢？显然讲不通。
如果在空格后面加个when，那只能填at the moment，因为这时when引导了关系从句，修饰先行词moment。
