在词典中看到有的名词前有(c,u)是不是说就可以加上a,two之类的表示数量的词?

关于有些名词既可数又不可数,在区别时,把握两点:
[1]具体的,可以单一化的,直观的-----可数:如
There was a discrepancy in the two reports of the accident.
不同点,不同之处,
[2]抽象的,笼统的----不可数:如
There is some discrepancy between the two accounts.
差异,有出入,不同
The commtee is reportedly unhappy about the discrepancy in numbers.

在对此类名词的运用上,根据具体的还是抽象的而决定.
如:difficulty
1. 困难,艰难[U,(+in)]----抽象
I had no difficulty in getting in touch with him.
我和他取得联系没有什么困难。
2. 难事,难处,难题[C]----具体
There are a lot of difficulties that have to be overcome.
有许多困难必须克服。
